Potatoes

Makin' Potatoes in Potatoshop

Mr. Business from the Barron Story Character project. Discovered issues with the drawing as I worked on it and now I'm thinking I might start over from scratch.

No posts for a few days, so a big post to catch up.

Made at the Legion of Honor.

Trying a new approach with my figures.

Old sketch of my dad. Not a great drawing, but the likeness is good, so i'm proud of it.

Barron - Bits and Pieces

A collage project, and my theme was monsters.

Goal was to represent the history of the subject in different pieces, and then combine them together in a meaningful way. It didn't quite come together for me, and i'm pretty sure it's because I didn't narrow down my subject into a clear focus.

Oh well, I had a blast doing it.

Barron - Climactic Moment

The final stage of the 3 part character design project, I'm not really happy with it honestly.

Time was spent building sets, lighting them, and we then incorporated them with our characters.

But the story I came up with was vague at best, and it's lost in the final.

I do like my composition though.

Story, story, and story?

Interesting thoughts on story

Maybe Appeal, Originality, and Engagement are more important than Plot/Story.

Master Plots: Every story ever written.

Exercise from the first day of class. Barron forms the new from chaos and experimentation. I like it.

Storey Time

For creative inspiration, try this exorcise, courtesy of Barron Storey.

Make a column of sequential letters, begging anywhere. If you come to the end of the alphabet, restart at the beginning. Fill in them in with the first word that comes to mind.

In a second column, create a short list of roles. Be specific, not just "Doctor, Lawyer, Indian Chief"

In a third column, create a short list of nouns, then go back and add ing to the end of them.

In a fourth column, create a short list of specific places, as specific as possible.

Then choose one from each column at random, combine, and build a story from that sentence.

I got: "Killer bridge builder terroring a mountain with only one goat"

Barron's class is fun.
